Markus Hakala's kicks are something truly amazing and it would be sad if they weren't added to the new sample pack. So I disagree on accepting only self-made samples by people from the community, and disregarding something where some work was already done. I think having high quality is very important and if this new sample pack is just there to replace the current samples with a similar quality but CC0 samples, it'd be the wrong approach. The problem I see here is that you never mentioned the importance of the quality of the samples. You do realise this is something that's scheduled for a version of LMMS after 1.2 (which is not even released yet), so I don't think time is really an issue. ![]() The process of contacting the owners, licensing, and clearing the samples is going to be a time drain. Sorry if I'm bossy, but that's what I think we need to do. This sample selection should be for producers, by producers, so please be sure that samples have minimal predelay, background noise and are eq'd/compressed for plug and play use. You load up one of these Standard banks from the soundfont file and you'll find that pretty much all 88 notes in the piano roll will be a different percussion instrument. Including lots "standard" percussion sets. It's rather large at nearly 250mb, so it takes awhile to load, but it has a LOT of samples to choose from. Soundfont are just multisamples sound in a pack, and so they're usually orchestral sound like strings or pianos, but not all soundfonts have velocity editing as an option. Samples are usually used for drums and FXs, so if you want new instruments you should go for Soundfont and vsts. There are 3 way of getting new instruments to work with LMMS, assuming you're on windows, and they are: Samples, VSTs (Virtual Studio Technology) and Soundfonts (SF2).
